MedStar Shah Medical Group (MSO) is a leading multi-specialty practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across Southern Maryland. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nuclear Technologist to join our growing team and support our mission of clinical excellence.

Position Summary :

The Nuclear Technologist is responsible for performing nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of a physician. The technologist ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, and strict adherence to all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging.
  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures such as SPECT, PET, and general nuclear scans.
  • Operate imaging equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and observe for adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procedures, patient interactions, and doses administered.
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform quality control tests and routine maintenance on nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Provide clear communication and compassionate care to patients before, during, and after procedures.

Required Qualifications :

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Current certification by ARRT (N) or NMTCB (CNMT).
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in Maryland (or eligible for licensure).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of radiopharmaceutical preparation and imaging procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage workflow efficiently.
  • Excellent patient care, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Technologist in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Experience performing both general nuclear medicine and PET / CT procedures.
