MedStar Shah Medical Group (MSO) is a leading multi-specialty practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across Southern Maryland. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nuclear Technologist to join our growing team and support our mission of clinical excellence.
Position Summary :
The Nuclear Technologist is responsible for performing nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of a physician. The technologist ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, and strict adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging.
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures such as SPECT, PET, and general nuclear scans.
- Operate imaging equipment efficiently and safely.
- Monitor patients during procedures and observe for adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures, patient interactions, and doses administered.
- Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform quality control tests and routine maintenance on nuclear medicine equipment.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Provide clear communication and compassionate care to patients before, during, and after procedures.
Required Qualifications :
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.Current certification by ARRT (N) or NMTCB (CNMT).Valid Radiologic Technologist license in Maryland (or eligible for licensure).Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Strong knowledge of radiopharmaceutical preparation and imaging procedures.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage workflow efficiently.Excellent patient care, communication, and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications :
At least 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Technologist in a clinical setting.Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.Experience performing both general nuclear medicine and PET / CT procedures.
