Job Summary :

Crooked Media is looking for a dynamic, endlessly curious, and innovative producer for our daily news podcast, What A Day . Our close-knit team works hard to keep our news-hungry listeners from falling into the doom-scrolling abyss by giving them everything they need to know to start their day.

So if you can break down the latest catfight in Congress without breaking a sweat, or even find the humor in the fight over the debt ceiling – we want to hear from you!

Candidates must be able to work in our LA office Sundays through Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 : 30 PM, and willing to adjust working hours in the event of breaking news or as other circumstances dictate.

We are looking for Los Angeles-based candidates, or candidates able to relocate within the first 3 months of accepting an offer.

How You'll Spend Your Time :

• Using your daily news judgment to assist with editorial planning, research, script writing and getting the host prepped for daily shows
• Monitoring the news and staying in the loop with what's happening
• Booking guests and working with our host on smart approaches and questions
• Crafting copy and questions that are clear, snappy, and accurate
• Cutting interviews and conversations
• Identifying great audio clips to make the show shine
• Prioritizing journalistic integrity while balancing Crooked's signature tone and humor
• Filling in for the senior producer as needed
• Providing in-studio feedback to the host during records. QCing show as needed
• Communicating and collaborating across the organization

Once we're ready to extend an offer, we look at the individual's years of relevant experience and other compensable factors to determine a competitive offer. And for this role, the starting salary is $100,000 . This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement.
