Dir Clinical Experience

The Director of Clinical Experience manages Sidney Kimmel Medical College's Phase 1 Clinical Experience course. The individual in this position oversees a network of Community Health Workers and ensures patient continuity of care throughout the healthcare systems. The Director collaborates with Jefferson leadership, faculty, and staff to facilitate integration with other clinical, enterprise, and local partners in building links between clinical- and community-based resources.

Essential Functions :

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Supervises five Community Health Workers (CHWs) including daily management of tasks and problem solving as well as ensure triage to appropriate care as needed.
  • Oversees medical students (280) deployed to clinical sites for the Clinical Experience course ensuring adequate oversight by Community Health Workers. Provides oversight of all electronic health records (EPIC) documentation of students and CHWs.
  • Ongoing staff development and training; assess performance with frequent feedback and corrections as needed to Community Health Workers and students.
  • Communicate and collaborate with sites and office managers to ensure optimal implementation of the Clinical Experience course.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations between sites to ensure comparability of expectations and educational experiences.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required) :

  • Strong knowledge of human resources and payroll policies to ensure compliance and accurate processing.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining of resource database.
  • Periodically contact and visit community partners to develop and maintain relationships and assess impact of patient referral.
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :

    Education :

    Bachelor's degree required in Social Work, Nursing, or other Healthcare field. Master's preferred.

    AND

    Experience :

    Minimum of 5 years related experience, with at least two years direct experience in outpatient care.

    Supervisory and higher education experience preferred.
