Chief Building Engineer

The Chief Building Engineer is responsible for overseeing all building operations, maintenance, and repair activities. This role ensures optimal performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems, manages engineering staff, and enforces compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Chief Engineer plays a strategic role in energy management, preventive maintenance, and vendor coordination to maintain a safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and ensure optimal performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
  • Manage engineering staff and enforce compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Strategize and implement energy management and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate with vendors to maintain a safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility.
  • Perform basic upkeep of two small corporate office buildings, including minor plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and painting tasks.

Essential Skills :

  • Expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in building engineering or maintenance with leadership responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and Building Automation Systems.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications :

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications such as Universal CFC, Stationary Engineer License, or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Experience dealing with vendors and performing operation maintenance.

    Work Environment :

    Work from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, maintaining two small corporate office buildings with 20% occupation. Engage in tasks such as minor plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, and painting, while ensuring a comfortable and efficient office environment.

    Job Type & Location :

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits :

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
