Overview

Lab Infrastructure and Network Administrator - Data Center (San Jose, CA) role at Thales. This is an on-site 5-days per week role at the Data Center in San Jose, CA. The employee will be on-site and on-call 24 / 7.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain existing hardware and asset inventory tools; expertise with install, upgrade and monitoring software & hardware, primarily VMware & Linux OS.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure and networking to ensure continuous operation.
  • Interact with cross-functional IT teams to resolve LAB hardware issues; assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide technical support.
  • Perform routine and scheduled audits of systems, including backups; provide 24 / 7 on-call support.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly.
  • Work within a multi-disciplined Agile team to design, implement, monitor, and support solutions for monitoring WAN and LAN network devices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to maintain operating systems, business applications, security tools, PCs, and local and wide area networking.
  • 5+ years of experience in lab administration.
  • Strong presentation, documentation, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to use security tools and perform patching.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware servers from vendors such as HPE, Dell, and Supermicro.
  • Ability to set up end-to-end network topology and troubleshoot networking problems.
  • Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware and storage per standards and project requirements.

    • Physical Demands

  • Hybrid work arrangement (on-site at the data center and some remote work).
  • Prolonged screen time and computer use; ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.
  • Vision and dexterity requirements; able to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, and kneel or crouch as needed.
  • Must be able to carry at least 60 lbs.
