Principal Military Trainer - Maneuver Work Area Commander (WAC)
SERCO is seeking a Principal Military Trainer - Maneuver Work Area Commander (WAC) to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. A Work Area Commander (WAC) is assigned as part of a team for Warfighter Exercise rotations to support Warfighter exercises (WFX), Mission Rehearsal Exercises (MRX), and After-Action Review (AAR) process. As a WAC, you will assist the World Class Opposing Forces (WCOPFOR) and OPFOR Support Division with preparation of Opposing Force orders, Simulation Control Plans, responsible for the maneuver of conventional units in the simulation in support of the distributed exercises, and other contract deliverables in support of Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) Warfighter Exercises and Mission Rehearsal Exercises as needed. The Maneuver WAC serves as the subordinate maneuver cell to the Division Command Post during exercises. You will participate as necessary in the Joint Exercise Life-Cycle (JELC) planning events, working side-by-side, with other members of the Exercise and Simulation Support Directorates and the Scenario Design Future Operations to plan and execute MCTP Exercise rotations. As required the WAC will have an additional duty as an Exercise Support Planner as needed to support Warfighter exercises.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain / transfer your Secret clearance. In this role, you will :
- Prepares computer simulation with exercise scenario plan command and control graphics
- Prepares computer simulation by placing assigned units into doctrinal formations, ensuring placement is situated to the terrain and is a tactically correct representation based on combat orders and the scenario
- Maneuver Work Area Commander (WAC) functions as the commander of those forces assigned to the Work Area
- Make tactical decisions for the sub-units assigned to the WA with the intent of the overall mission and guidance from the Command Posts

- Inputs computer orders and generates reports as directed
- Synchronizes Corps and Division echelon level maneuver forces and assets
- Coordinates Command and Control between command post players and Work Area Role Players to execute in the simulation.
- Manage the OPFOR maneuver forces in support of the OPFOR Support Division and Headquarters Support Team (HST).
- May deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations.
- As required, be prepared to execute your additional duty as an Exercise Support Planner (ESP). This involves attending planning meetings, writing, publishing, and delivering Exercise Life Cycle Event Contract Deliverables (CDRL).
- As required, be prepared to execute your additional duty and travel as an Exercise Support Planner during Warfighter exercise to receive equipment, support the HST leadership and Exercise control (EXCON) during Warfighter exercises.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have :
Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.One of the following :High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional and / or military leadership experience.Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and / or military leadership experience.Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and / or military leadership experience.Familiarity with current Army / Joint doctrine.Highly proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas.Must be able to travel in the United States and overseas to support simulation-based Army training exercises as needed (up to 25% of the time).Must be familiar with all new and current Army and Joint regulations and publications applicable to this position prior to employment.Additional desired experience and skills :
U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)Graduate degree.Combat deployment experience in OIF, OEF, OND, etc.A minimum of 2 years of experience in design, planning, configuration, and conduct of large-scale computer simulation exercises.Previous experience in computer-assisted simulation training.Experience in Warfighter's Simulation (WARSIM).Brigade or higher staff officer experience.Prior experience as an Observer Controller / Trainer (OC / T).
