Managing Director, Financial Services Operational Resilience
BDO's Resilience practice is a recognized leader in helping organizations anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive events. Our multidisciplinary team delivers a comprehensive suite of servicesincluding Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Cyber / IT Disaster Recovery, and Third-Party Risk Managementto clients across industries.
Reporting directly to the Resilience Practice leader, the Managing Director grows and strengthens our Financial Services operational resilience offering. Working in a hybrid environment, they are responsible for driving new business, leading client engagements, shaping practice strategy, and mentoring junior team members. The Managing Director will be expected to achieve specific sales targets, playing a pivotal role in expanding our market presence and ensuring the continued delivery of high-impact, innovative solutions to our clients.
Job Duties
- Mature and lead the Resilience practice's financial services industry offerings
- Originate work through strong market relationships
- Lead client pitches, development of proposals and new relationships through CRM
- Establish engagement budgets, coordinate deliverables, and maintain appropriate project management to ensure engagements are delivered "on time, on budget, and as promised"
- Proactively identify project risks and issues and resolve them in a timely manner
- Cultivate and maintain strong, trust-based strategic relationships with key client decision makers
- Identify revenue growth opportunities and coordinate business development efforts including drafting and issuance of statements of work
- Oversee multiple client engagements
- Provide clients with strategic guidance (written and verbal) in the disciplines of business continuity, crisis management, resiliency, and / or enterprise risk management
- Recommend enhancements to client operations and infrastructure to strengthen risk management capabilities
- Contribute to the development of methodologies and intellectual capital
- Apply AI and data-driven solutions to build scalable and forward-looking strategies
- Exhibit mastery of consulting methodology, materials, tools, and risk management software
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises the day-to-day workload of Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work productActs as Career Advisor to professionals in the practice as appropriateProvides strong leadership, technical guidance, coaching, support and confidence building to managers and junior consultants ensuring they are trained on all relevant tools and techniquesEvaluates the performance of team members and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional developmentManages consulting, financial and operational numbers, such as utilization, realization, margin, sales pipelineDemonstrates ability to grow, expand, cross-sell accountsManages economics of the Financial Services practice area to include determining and administering the services of the practice, overseeing professionals and ensuring engagements achieve engagement metricsQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education :
Bachelor's degree, required; major in Business Administration or Risk Management, preferredMaster of Business Administration (MBA), preferredExperience :
Fifteen (15) or more years of consulting experience in financial services, operational risk management, business continuity or crisis management, requiredExperience successfully building new business and leading engagements within the professional services industry, requiredExperience with resilience and industry specific regulatory requirements (i.e., FFIEC, FRB, NYDFS, and DORA), requiredLicenses / Certifications :
DRII, BCI, and / or Series 7, preferredSoftware :
Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, requiredExperience with Teams, or other web-based meeting applications, preferredExperience with SharePoint and familiarity with cloud-based CRM tools, preferredFamiliarity with risk and / or resiliency software (e.g. Archer, Fusion, Origami, ServiceNow Fairchild, etc.), preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

National Range : $200,000 - $400,000
Maryland Range : $200,000 - $400,000
NYC / Long Island / Westchester Range : $200,000 - $400,000
