Position Overview :

As a Lead Medical Assistant, you will assist in preparing patients for their healthcare visit, support providers in delivering care, and update patient health records as needed. Additionally, you will be responsible for guiding, mentoring, and training Medical Assistants while overseeing scheduling and timekeeping. This role includes a strong emphasis on onboarding new Medical Assistants and providing ongoing training to ensure competency and professional growth.

Essential Functions :

  • Mentors and guides Medical Assistant team, manages team timekeeping, and schedules.
  • Leads the onboarding process for new Medical Assistants, ensuring they receive thorough training in clinical procedures, EMR usage, and clinic workflows.
  • Develops and facilitates ongoing training programs to enhance Medical Assistants' clinical skills, knowledge of protocols, and patient interaction techniques.
  • Prepares patients for healthcare visits by directing and / or accompanying them to the examination room, positioning them as needed, and arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing and / or recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of the visit or treatment.
  • Educates patients by providing medication and dietary instructions and answering questions.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Protects patient confidentiality and ensures compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Adheres to professional standards, policies, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Engages in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Enhances healthcare practice reputation by demonstrating ownership and initiative in accomplishing tasks and exploring opportunities to add value.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • 4 years of clinical healthcare experience required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience in Cardiology.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Leadership and training experience.
  • Physical Requirements

    This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment

    Work is performed in a typical medical clinic and / or business office environment. Work in a clinical setting has the potential for exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and infectious pathogens. Must be able to use protective equipment as required.
