Corporate Lawyer (Chicago)

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Attorney to join our client's U.S. Business Counsel and Franchising Team . This attorney will provide legal counsel and support to our franchising function, helping to create, review, and revise key agreements that support our relationships with franchisees. The position reports directly to the Senior Counsel of the U.S. Business Counsel and Franchising Team .

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and finalizing documentation for restaurant franchise transactions.
• Support transactions involving the sale and acquisition of restaurants (operator-to-operator, company-owned, and owner / operator sales).
• Provide legal guidance in alignment with company policies, ensuring consistency and best practices.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Legal Department to support the U.S. leadership team.
• Interpret and apply franchise policies to individual transactions and situations.
• Draft, manage, and negotiate a variety of agreements with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Provide pragmatic and business-focused legal advice that helps achieve company objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and license to practice law in the U.S.
• Transactional and / or franchise law experience strongly preferred.
• Strong technical expertise and understanding of U.S. legal system and laws.
• Proven experience drafting and managing agreements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Results-oriented with a focus on achieving business objectives while maintaining compliance with laws and regulations.
