In this role you will be an integral part of our Public Health Division by ensuring regulations and statutory requirements for nursing initial (pre-licensure) and ongoing continuing education are met.\n\nYou have the passion, we have the opportunities – let's make a difference for Nebraskans\n\nAs the Nursing Education Consultant to the Board of Nursing, you will : \n
- Administers all aspects related to the regulations and statutory requirements for pre-licensure nursing programs (RN and LPN) as well as ongoing continuing education for all levels of licensed nurses.\n
- Develops, reviews, revises and implements legislation to ensure adequate regulation of nursing education in the interest of public health and safety.\n
- Develops, reviews, revises and implements department rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they relate to initial nursing licensure and continuing education of licensed nurses. Provides advice and consultation within and outside of the department on nursing pre-licensure education and licensure.\n
- Represents the department and participates in local, state, regional and national meetings on issues related to pre-licensure nursing education and continuing education.\n
- Prepares, develops, and presents educational material for public groups, media, and other interested persons. Coordinates or participates in specific committees, advisory councils and task forces as identified, requested or directed.\n
- Serves as the departmental resource person and consultant on the areas of nursing education and continuing education. Responds to telephone and correspondence inquiries regarding nursing licensure and continuing education and interprets related statutes, rules, regulations, position statements, advisory opinions and policies.\n
- Prepares and disseminates statistical data pertinent to assigned areas of responsibility.\n
- Keeps abreast of state and national trends with potential impact on nursing education and communicates pertinent information concerning the regulatory impact of identified trends.\n
- Develops strategies and takes advantage of opportunities to inform the public regarding expectations as recipients of new graduate nurses as well as experienced nurses.\n
- Prepares written documents for a variety of audiences, which enhance understanding of nursing education regulatory issues and assist in public protection.\n
- Provides ongoing review and information to Boards regarding evidence-based and best practices for nursing education and nursing licensees. The Education Consultant works collaboratively with the Executive Director and Nursing Practice Consultant to the Board of Nursing, Advanced Practice RN Board and the Nebraska Center for Nursing, fully integrating knowledge and expertise in establishing a forward direction for the evolution of nursing licensure in NE.\n\nWork Schedule : Monday - Friday 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm\n\nPay rate : $38.472 / hour - $56.712 / hour. Pay rate determined based on years of LPN and RN work experience.\n\nRequirements / Qualifications\n\nMinimum Qualifications : Licensure in Nebraska as a registered nurse and experience in nursing in a variety of roles; a Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field is required for the Health Nurse Consultants for the nurse aide and medication aide programs; a Master's degree in nursing is required for Health Nurse Consultants for Education and Practice; experience in health regulation is desirable as is dedication to high standards for nursing practice.\n\nPreferred Qualifications : 5 years nursing experience in a variety of roles. Doctoral degree in nursing is preferred. Experience in health regulation is desirable as is dedication to high standards for nursing practice.\n\nWhen at FULL performance of the position, this individual would have the : \n\nKnowledge of : statutes and administrative rules governing nursing education in Nebraska and across the country; legal and professional issues related to nursing education and practice; public policy issues related to health care and regulation of health care providers; organizational structure, policies and standards of the agency.\n\nSkills and Ability to : communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing divergent backgrounds regarding nursing related questions and problems; facilitate and utilize advanced negotiation skills; plan, implement, administer and evaluate a complex system for maintaining nursing education standards in the state; interpret and apply statutes governing nursing initial and continuing education; develop and carry out research proposals to answer nursing regulatory questions; develop and implement surveys to add to database on nursing regulation; produce written materials related to nursing education; advocate for upholding standards of nursing initial an continuing education for protection of the public.\n\nBenefits\n\nWe offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
