American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Psychiatric unit, requiring a ME or compact RN license and at least one year of behavioral health nursing experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is based in a free-standing acute inpatient psychiatric facility with both pediatric and adult unitsWork with pediatric patients aged 5–18 and adults 18+, with common diagnoses including eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and moreShift is 2 : 00 PM to 10 : 30 PM, four days per weekWeekend rotation required every other Saturday and SundayFloating is required between pediatric and adult psych units as neededDay RN ratio is 1 : 5-6; night RN ratio is 1 : 13 with additional support staffCerner is used for charting and Pyxis for medication managementNo on-call responsibilitiesHoliday coverage is required in rotationCare for patients with both voluntary and involuntary psychiatric admissions who are medically cleared prior to admissionNo forensic or inmate patients; seclusion rooms used as necessaryOccasional care of medically cleared substance use disorder or detox patientsFacility offers a variety of therapeutic modalities including pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardeningComprehensive unit support structure includes nurse supervisors, nurse managers, psych techs, contracted phlebotomists, NPs, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and securityFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyOrientation is one week on days, followed by scheduled shifts on contracted unitFlu vaccination is required; only medical exemptions are accepted, with a two-week review periodProfessional scrubs in any solid color are requiredFree parking is available on siteHeavy snow conditions are expected during the winter months\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN license requiredMinimum of one year of behavioral health nursing experience requiredPediatric behavioral health experience preferred; candidates without it must be approved by the managerCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredDe-escalation skills and experience with physical restraints requiredMust be comfortable with medication administration, group facilitation, and documentationMOAB certification obtained on-site during orientationExperience with Cerner EMR required or preferredApplicants must not have worked in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health hospitalPermanent address must be 100+ miles South / Southwest of Bangor, ME (EMMC) for consideration\n Benefits\n
