As the Construction And Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of functions in ensuring that all materials and services required for construction projects are procured in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will work closely with project managers, vendors, and suppliers to identify needs, analyze pricing, negotiate contracts, and manage the procurement process. This position requires an individual with a strong background in purchasing and construction to contribute to the success of our organization.

Primary Roles And Responsibilities

1. Customer Satisfaction

  • Establish customer relationship for construction services.
  • Educate customer on the construction process.
  • Work with customers to understand desired upgrades / changes.
  • Ensure that estimates meet client requirements.
  • 2. Project Initiation

  • Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project.
  • Research and identify potential vendors and suppliers, and evaluate their capabilities, pricing, and delivery terms.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to prepare and submit purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Analyze quotes, proposals, and bids to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Recognize project constraints and / or needed upgrades.
  • Work with Construction Managers to understand material requirements for construction projects.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring favorable terms and pricing for the organization.
  • Review and compare pricing and quality of materials and services to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Monitor vendor and supplier performance, resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise.
  • 3. Inventory

  • Develop and maintain an effective system to manage all inventory of tools, company assets and warehouse materials. This system should include a process to ensure accountability of all materials removed as well as the need to purchase additional materials.
  • Ensure that all employees have the necessary company provided tools assigned to them.
  • Ensure that all assets' trucks maintain a standard stock of materials with company branding clearly identified. These assets should be replenished as needed.
  • Maintain an updated list of new tools to include a description of the tool with associated serial numbers.
  • Track materials needed and used, to ensure that construction supplies are fully utilized.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance and schedule services when needed.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of the condition of vehicles. Monitor and report any damage.
  • Plan and execute the delivery of materials to job site.
  • Requirements

    Necessary Experience And Skill Set

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and services
  • Skills / Physical Demands / Competencies

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)
  • Ability to repetitively push / pull / lift / carry objects
  • Ability to work with / around cleaning agents
