About The Position

Job Title : Telemonitor Technician

Profession : Nursing

Specialty : Telemetry Cardiac, Telemetry Med / Surg

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 2 - 12 hour shifts; 2 Day shifts 7 : 00 am to 7 : 30 pm and 1 - 12 hour night 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 30 am

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : 2 years

License : High School Diploma or GED

Certifications : BLS certified

Must-Have :

  • Successful completion of Dysrhythmia Course and EKG exam prior to orientation
  • Two years experience monitoring ECG / Dysrhythmia in a physician's office, clinic, hospital, or similar setting

Description :

Full-time Telemonitor Technician position responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors.

Provides immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms to nursing clinicians.

Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patients' cardiac rhythms.

Notifies nursing clinicians of any rate / rhythm changes according to clinician / provider orders.

Collects data necessary for placement of telemetry.

Measures and interprets patients' heart rhythm and documents on patient record per department standards.

Conducts ectopy checks twice per shift.

Responsible for daily telemetry box maintenance.

Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers.

Utilizes clear and complete communication when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.

Accurately charges telemetry and maintains chart documentation.

Maintains the highest standards of practice in the clinical setting.

Creates exceptional patient / family experiences during the delivery of care.

Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge.

Performs configuration as necessary.

Knowledge of basic anatomy / physiology of the heart is required.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and clinicians.

Ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods.

Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy in response times to requests.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely is essential.

Physical requirements include frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and frequent use of hands for handling objects and controls.
