Job Summary
Please note that this is a limited appointment position in which will last 6 to 12 months from start date.
The Clinical Social Worker (CSW) III primary responsibilities are psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, brief therapeutic interventions, consultation, education, community linkages, supportive services, and facilitate the plan of care through the health care continuum for patients, families, and staff, with particular focus on high-risk populations. The CSW III acts as a consultant to the clinical team, service lines and other departments and participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives.
The Clinical Social Worker III will provide therapeutic support to patients and their families followed by UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital - San Francisco.
This CSW III is a pediatric social worker who will provide guidance, empowerment, and assistance for patients and families as they navigate their wellness paths The CSW III coordinates resources and services in response to a patient's psychosocial needs while collaborating with care team members to support timely and safe discharges and / or meet the continuum of care needs within the fiscal realities of the case.

The CSW III will participate in department education and practice improvement activities. The CSW III has advanced clinical knowledge and skills and is distinguished from the CSW II by leadership activities including participation in advanced program planning, provision of educational programs, clinical supervision, and consultation to the clinical team, other departments, and the community.
The CSW III will provide social work services to any patient regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, social, cultural, educational or religious background, language, age, ancestry, citizenship, color, national origin, race, presence of mental or physical disability, source of payment for care, medical condition, marital status or status as a veteran and will provide age-appropriate assessments, interpretation of data, and delivery of interventions.
The CSW III will provide oversight of a specialized social service program. This social worker is part of the deaf / hard-of-hearing (DHH) care team in the UCSF Children's Communication Center, and provides specialized social work services to DHH children, including educational support for DHH services, therapy and counseling for DHH-specific mental health needs for parent and children, and guidance for DHH-specific social and community services, including American Sign Language classes and deaf mentorship programs.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $43.04 - $74.34 (Hourly Rate).

Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery service offers a broad scope of outpatient and inpatient services for the diagnosis and surgical management of both adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat problems; head and neck surgery; and plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face.
Specialty programs include Otology and Neurotology, Head and Neck Surgery, Rhinology and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Endocrine (Thyroid and Parathyroid) Surgery, Skull Base Surgery, Facial Plastic surgery, and Allergy.
