Hospital Surgery / Observation Coder

Overview

This is an advanced level coding position that codes and abstracts outpatient records for data retrieval, analysis, reimbursement and research. Codes and enters diagnostic and procedure codes into a designated coding and abstracting system utilizing the 3M encoder, as appropriate. Meets quality and productivity coding standards and demonstrates the ability to navigate an EMR. Ability to code across all facilities.

Open to remote / out-of-state candidates residing in CO, KS, NM and other states listed below.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract outpatient records for data retrieval, reimbursement and research using the 3M encoder where appropriate.
• Enter diagnostic and procedure codes into the designated coding / abstracting system.
• Meet quality and productivity standards; navigate the EMR effectively.
• Code across facilities as needed.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work with prolonged periods of sitting; may exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
