HJF is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to support the Extremity Trauma & Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE). HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the EACE. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for supporting collaborative and multidisciplinary research projects focused on long-term outcomes following extremity trauma, with an emphasis on human-device interaction and musculoskeletal health.

EACE is the leading advocate for research and treatment of Service members and veterans with extremity trauma and amputation, with a mission to conduct clinically relevant research, foster collaboration, and build partnerships to optimize the quality of life of Service members and Veterans. In line with the congressionally directed mission of the EACE, the research efforts undertaken focus on the mitigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of traumatic extremity injuries and amputations with a specific focus on translating findings into clinical practice to improve the care of injured Service members and Veterans. This position will support ongoing research activities within the EACE portfolio at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Note, US Citizenship and a personnel security background investigation are required.

Responsibilities :

• Assists in designing, developing, executing, and clinical research protocols.
• Conducts laboratory research with devices such as force platforms, motion capture cameras, instrumented treadmills, electromyography, respirometry, and wearable technologies (e.g., inertial measurement units).
• Educates prospective participants about research protocol(s), validates eligibility to participate, and evaluates commitment. Serves as a resource for the subjects.
• Assists with the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and / or publication in scientific journals.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
