Responsibilities Work in a 45-bed Med / Surg unit within a hospital setting Patient population includes post-surgical cases (gallbladder, colectomy, orthopedic procedures), COVID-19, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, and respiratory conditions Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 6 : 30 AM to 7 PM Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 4-5 during days First to float within skillset, with possible floating to nearby affiliated campuses within an 8-11 mile range and at least 2 hours' notice for cross-campus float No on-call or call-back responsibility Required to work every third weekend and every other holiday Uses EPIC for charting; recent EPIC experience required Must be able to precept students and new-hires as needed in a teaching hospital environment Experienced, resilient, and adaptable team preferred Navy blue scrubs required; no competing health system or agency logos permitted Not eligible for candidates residing within a 40-mile radius of the facility COVID-19 vaccine is not required at this time but is subject to change Three call-ins may result in termination Requirements Active KY or compact RN license Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications Minimum 2 years of strong Med / Surg nursing experience At least 1 prior travel assignment required Recent experience with EPIC EMR system Proficient in PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG / NG tube care, ostomy care, remote tele, blood product administration, and dysphagia screening Must demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622414.
