The Videographer / Editor is responsible for producing high-quality video content that supports the organization’s news and public information initiatives. This role includes video recording, editing, and delivering engaging visual content that effectively communicates key messages to the public, stakeholders, and the community. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record and advanced technical expertise in video production, combined with storytelling skills, to ensure all content is accurate, professional, and aligned with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate Electronic News Gathering (E.N.G.) cameras and video editing equipment;
- Perform the gathering of visual elements and, on occasion, conduct interviews and the integration of those elements into news packages and voice over pieces, suitable for airing on news programs;
Other Functions :
The editing of news projects;The operation of control room and studio equipment during productions;Ability to comfortably perform various studio roles as needed, including directing, technical directing, operating control room and studio equipment, running graphics (XPression), and reading / loading production scripts and rundown software; strong experience coordinating production crews is essential.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, in alignment with the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians–Communications Workers of America (NABET-CWA) agreement.Required Qualifications :
4+ years of production experience, with an emphasis on location / field and in-studio productions; demonstrated experience in post-production and video editing with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including working with graphic templates (e.g., MOGRTs). Motion graphics experience is a plus but not required.Strong knowledge of cinematography and digital video production, with advanced technical skills in camerawork, lighting, ENG, and broadcast standards for both commercial / television and news production.Bachelor’s degree in film and television production, or related bachelor’s or associate degree also may apply. Adequate work experience may substitute for the education requirement.Proven ability to deliver strong customer service and work collaboratively with government agencies, community groups, production / technical teams, and individuals unfamiliar with the production process, while remaining effective under pressure.Commitment to community media, Public, Education and Government (PEG) access cable television, first amendment rights and public interest telecommunications.Clean driving record and valid Driver’s License. Ability to provide own transportation to attend meetings and events away from the office.Must be willing to travel frequently across Montgomery County, and work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, as outlined by the NABET-CWA agreement.Must be able to perform essential job functions, which may include :Lifting and carrying equipment of 40 pounds.
Frequent reaching, stretching, twisting, and bending.
Prolonged periods of standing.
This position falls under a collective bargaining agreement with NABET-CWA. Successful candidates must either be current members or join the union upon hire.The salary range for this full-time position is $62,000 -$66,000 annual, assuming 40 hours a week.
