Summary

As an SQL Server Database Administrator, you will serve as a trusted technical expert, providing leadership in the design, architecture, and optimization of enterprise-grade SQL Server environments across on-premises, AWS, and Azure platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of mission-critical databases while contributing to data modeling, design, observability, and automation initiatives. This role includes performance tuning, architecture reviews, mentoring, and on-call production support.

Your role in our mission

  • Lead database design and data modeling efforts, translating business requirements into logical and physical database structures.
  • Define and enforce data standards, normalization, indexing, and partitioning strategies to support scalability and performance.
  • Architect, implement, and maintain SQL Server environments, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
  • Manage and optimize SSRS and SSIS solutions, ensuring high-performance reporting and ETL workflows.
  • Implement observability and monitoring solutions (Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) for proactive database insights.
  • Conduct advanced performance tuning (query optimization, execution plans, indexing, workload analysis).
  • Develop and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies, leveraging both native SQL backups and AWS / Azure snapshots.
  • Collaborate with development and architecture teams to provide database best practices and schema design guidance.
  • Automate recurring tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and DevOps / IaC tools.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior DBAs, providing technical leadership and fostering knowledge-sharing.
  • Participate in 24 / 7 on-call rotation to support critical production environments.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of SQL Server DBA experience with proven expertise in database design, modeling, and administration.
  • Strong background in logical and physical data modeling, schema design, and relational architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS RDS for SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and hybrid architectures.
  • Experience in cloud migration strategies and modern database architectures.
  • Strong skills in backup, restore, HA / DR, and compliance controls.
  • Scripting proficiency with PowerShell and T-SQL; exposure to DevOps / IaC preferred.

  • Compensation

    The pay range for this position is $71,100.00 - $101,600.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
