Industrial Protocols Consultant – Industrial Networking and Communications (Ethernet / IP, Modbus, PROFINET, OPC UA)
We are seeking a dynamic Industrial Protocols Consultant to support and grow our industrial automation and connectivity solutions. The role combines technical expertise with the ability to drive alignment across the business to deliver high-impact communication architectures across key industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Life Sciences.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be :
- Act as the subject matter expert for industrial networking and communications technologies (Ethernet / IP, Modbus, PROFINET, OPC UA, etc.).
- Represent Emerson on Standards committees.
- Provide consulting and solution design for customers and sales teams implementing industrial communication systems.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and demos to educate internal teams.
- Consult with development teams to align communication solutions with product capabilities and roadmaps.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and service teams to ensure successful deployment of communication solutions.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings to inform strategy and product positioning.
- Collaborate across the business to help develop a long-term technology vision (3–5 year horizons).
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization.
- Contribute to the development of technical specifications and protocols.
- Establish strategic technology partnerships with key industry players.
- Drive the certification of the product (DeltaV) to appropriate standards (PROFINET etc.).
- Participate in the definition of technical vision, strategy, and road mapping.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Computer Science, or STEM related field).10+ years of experience with industrial protocols, implementation and usage in the field.Deep understanding of industrial protocols and communication architectures.Background in technologies, tools, and processes in development, testing and maintenance of software systems.Demonstrated abilities in leading and driving performance.Excellent leadership, communication and partner management skills.Experience in protocol development, application engineering, or solution consulting.Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events as needed.Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to collaborate with both local and remote sites.Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart :
Experience with cybersecurity in industrial environments (ISA / IEC 62443, NIST).Familiarity with edge computing, IIoT platforms, and cloud integration.Experience with industrial automation products or technologies.Background in working with EPCs or large-scale industrial projects.Our Culture & Commitment to You :
