What You Will Do :
- As a structural EIT, you will be part of a team performing bridge design and other structural projects for a diverse range of clients including cities, counties, states, and private entities.
- You will work under Professional Engineers to deliver efficient, quality-focused designs.
- Your responsibilities include performing structural calculations for new and existing structures, collaborating with engineering technicians on drawings, developing project specifications, participating in structural inspections, and writing reports on inspections and evaluations. While bridge projects will constitute most of your work, you will also design and analyze retaining walls, buildings, hydraulic structures such as tanks, dams, and weirs.
- You will initially be supervised directly by Professional Engineers. As you gain experience, your independent judgment and the complexity of tasks will increase.
What You Will Bring :
A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution. A Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred but not required. Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) are advantageous but not mandatory.If not already completed, passing the FE exam within one year of employment is required.Experience in bridge and structural design through coursework, research, or internships is highly preferred.Familiarity with LRFD design procedures, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and basic skills in Microstation or AutoCAD are required.Excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills, along with a willingness to learn and ask questions, are essential for success.WSB is a design and consulting firm specializing in Transportation, Community Planning, Environmental, Energy, Municipal, and Construction services, offering solutions for communities nationwide.
