Lead Superintendent Charter School Construction (Charlotte, NC)
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a seasoned, hands-on Lead Superintendent to oversee the construction of charter schools and early learning centers in and around Charlotte, North Carolina . This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered on time, under budget, and with the highest safety and quality standards .
The ideal candidate has direct field experience , excels at subcontractor and vendor coordination , and thrives in fast-paced environments. This is not a technical or project management roleits a boots-on-the-ground leadership position responsible for driving daily site operations and building strong relationships with all stakeholders.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Live in or near Charlotte, NC and be available to travel to job sites across South Carolina and North Carolina.
- Lead all aspects of on-site construction operations, including safety, scheduling, quality control, and subcontractor management.
- Promote and enforce the company's Mission, Vision, and Values on every job site.
- Maintain strong relationships with local inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Enforce Zero Tolerance Safety Standards, exceeding OSHA compliance.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and proactively address delays or risks.
- Ensure all work is performed according to plans, specifications, and budget.
- Coordinate material deliveries, site logistics, and daily work plans.
- Lead job site meetings, safety briefings, and daily huddles.
- Resolve conflicts, manage change orders, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Provide technical guidance when needed, including interpreting drawings and recommending construction methods.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of accountability and excellence.

Minimum 5 years of on-site construction leadership experience, preferably in school, commercial, or multifamily projects.Proven ability to lead field teams, manage subcontractors, and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.Strong understanding of construction sequencing, safety protocols, and local building codes.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours as needed.
