Job Overview :

Public Service Officers “PSOs”   play a crucial role in supporting community member operations, primarily focusing on non-emergency duties and community aesthetics. PSOs handle a range of tasks, including welcoming community members, conducting physical assessments of the community, meeting children at bus stops, assisting law enforcement with traffic incidents, abandoned or illegally parked vehicles, community incidents, trespassing, and supporting non-emergency investigations. They also provide public service, community education, and outreach, contributing to improved community relations.

Your Responsibilities :

• Reporting system :
• Daily (per contact with community member, resident, business)
• Weekly Reporting to Public Safety Director
• Monthly Measurables to MWMA Management
• Communication via a MWMA Public Servicey Phone
• Community assessments, enforcement of community rules & regulations, including lighting of monuments and wayfinding signs, bus stops and common area, landscaping / irrigation maintenance- communication message sent to community or business manager contact copying MWMA Management
• Community assessments, including physical disorders that involve trash, landscaping, damages, screening, pendant flags, scene from the common areas, new signage, once acclimated, Lighting, etc. -  3 warnings then forwarded to MWMA (7 days first communication, 7 days second communication, then sent to MWMA Management)
• Business / Commercial assessments including physical disorders that involve trash, landscaping, damage, screening, pendant flags, scene from the common areas, new signage, once acclimated, Lighting, etc. - 3 warnings then forwarded to MWMA (7 days first communication, 7 days second communication, then sent to MWMA Management)
• General assistance to the community members
• Victim recontact
• Written Bolo and Communications involving alerts to community-( approval first by MWMA Management prior to distribution)
• Attend Board and other meetings
• Attend DRB meetings & Development Guideline Revision Support
• Understand and apply all MWMA Rules, Regulations and Procedures
• Distribution of Welcome packets and any community communications as requested by MWMA
• Managing notices being sent via the Management Alert System
• Meet and connect with youth at bus stops during the school time schedule
• Crime Prevention via MetroWest Crime-Free Multi-Housing –  All PSOs need to be Crime Free Certified
• Trespass – contacting off-duty law enforcement
• Vagrants and panhandlers and the investigation of suspicious people  (PSO asks them to leave and if they refuse, contact the Orlando Police Department for removal)
• Mobilization and deployment of Stalker Messaging Board
• Car accident support
• School traffic support
• Emergency and Hurricane preparedness, support and response
• Attend / Support Community Events
• Participate in the Edgewood Children's Ranch Support & Award Program
• Organization and cleanliness of garage where public safety inventory is stored
• Vehicles and vehicle maintenance
• Professional uniforms and equipment
• Work / Coordinate with Orlando Police Off-Duty Officers
• Work on establishing partnerships with Law Enforcement, schools, city officials, etc.
• Encourage residents to report suspicious activity to Law Enforcement
• Traffic Incidents Management :  Help support LE in directing traffic, community incident data sharing and community vagrants and / or trespassers
• Non-Emergency Investigations :  Collecting and preserving evidence and assisting with basic investigations
• Public Service and Outreach :  Providing information to the public, assisting with the distribution of welcome packets and event promotions and participating
• Community Education :  Providing information about crime prevention and safety measures to the public
• Vehicle Abatement :  Addressing issues related to abandoned or disabled vehicles.

Physical Requirements :

Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; Standing, sitting, walking and occasional climbing.  The employee is required to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time, as well as talk on the phone for extended periods of time. Ability to detect auditory and / or visual emergency alarms.  Ability to work extended / flexible hours, weekends, and attend Board meetings as required. Driving when necessary.

As the successful detection and de-escalation of potential threats is often a result of the amount of experience possessed by security personnel, MWMA prefers an employee with more experience, particularly in public sector work. Additionally, the growing diversity of the MWMA makes security personnel fluent in Spanish and English, highly desirable.

Schedule : Monday through Friday, 7 : 00am - 4 : 00pm; 2 : 00pm - 11 : 00pm

Compensation : $23.00-$25.00 Hourly
