Summary
The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles including gantry cranes, forklifts, Tuckerbilts, end loaders, spotter trucks, air compressors, and diesel-powered equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and vehicle systems including gantry cranes, Tuckerbilts, forklifts, spotter trucks, end loaders, air compressors, and diesel engines
- Apply knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel systems for troubleshooting and repair
- Read and interpret service and parts manuals, electrical and hydraulic schematics, and repair diagrams
- Complete assigned work orders and maintenance tasks efficiently and accurately
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities
- Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and shop areas in clean, organized condition
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair priorities and completion status
- Be available for on-call maintenance needs as required
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements :
High school diploma or trade school equivalent requiredMinimum two years of hands-on experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenanceDemonstrated expertise in diesel engine diagnostics and repairStrong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and DC electrical systemsAbility to manage multiple priorities and complete work independently with minimal supervisionProficient with computers and Microsoft Office applicationsBasic welding and fabrication skillsMust have a personal tool set suitable for the positionMust be able to read, write, and speak English; Spanish speaking highly desirableWillingness to complete third-party training courses as assignedMust exhibit strong judgment, organization, and time-management skillsEnvironment and Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistentlyMust be able to bend, climb, and work in physically demanding conditionsWork performed in a plant environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and dustFull-time position, typically 40+ hours per weekMust be willing to be on-call 24 / 7 as needed for maintenance emergencies
