Clinical Documentation Specialist

A company is looking for a Clinical Documentation Specialist I to provide comprehensive reviews of medical records and educate healthcare providers on documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records in various outpatient settings

Query healthcare providers to clarify clinical documentation and ensure accurate coding

Educate providers on optimal documentation practices to reflect the severity of illness and facilitate accurate billing

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED or equivalent

Five years of experience as a clinical nurse in a high acuity department or as an inpatient / outpatient coder, or two years as a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist

Understanding of risk adjusted payment methodologies and professional coding and billing
