Job Description

Our client, a fast-growing early-stage technology company in the AI-powered enterprise procurement space, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal to assist with its search for the company’s first in-house attorney. This is an exciting opportunity for a business-minded lawyer to build the legal function from the ground up, take ownership of commercial legal matters, and shape the legal infrastructure to support rapid growth. With strong early customer traction and an experienced founding team, the company is well-positioned to scale quickly.

The ideal candidate will :

Have a J.D. with strong academic credentials and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
Bring 5+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience, with a significant portion focused on B2B SaaS
Possess expertise negotiating complex SaaS and technology agreements with sophisticated enterprise customers
Demonstrate working knowledge of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA / CPRA), IP ownership / licensing, and information security requirements
Be comfortable operating independently in a dynamic, high-growth setting—balancing multiple priorities and making judgment calls in real time
Be an excellent communicator who builds trust and works collaboratively across business, technical, and legal teams

Responsibilities include :

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements with a focus on enterprise SaaS contracts

Serving as the primary legal partner to GTM teams, providing practical guidance that aligns legal risk with business goals

Coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counsel to move processes forward efficiently

Developing scalable contracting workflows, playbooks, and enablement materials that accelerate deal velocity while safeguarding the company

Advising on data privacy, security, intellectual property, and regulatory matters

Partnering closely with Product and Engineering to integrate privacy and security principles into product development and compliance initiatives

This is an outstanding opportunity for a lawyer who wants to be the architect of a legal function, working side by side with an accomplished founding team in a high-growth, well-funded entrepreneurial company. The role is based in San Francisco and is in-office, though the company offers flexibility in hours and scheduling. The targeted base compensation range is $200,000 to $240,000, with equity and comprehensive benefits included. Individual total compensation will depend on the candidate’s level of seniority and directly relevant experience.
