The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position for an artist / scholar in Dance at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2026. Completion of a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The teaching assignment of five courses per year may include an interdisciplinary, somatic, and improvisational introduction to Theater and Dance; beginning and advanced courses in Dance technique and choreography; and courses in Dance studies. The successful candidate will have an interdisciplinary interest in both Theater and Dance, and candidates with professional performance experience and / or experience teaching at the college level are especially encouraged to apply. The field of specialization is open, and the successful candidate will fulfill the expectation that all Colgate faculty participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum .
