At Mahaska Health the primary role of a Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for leadership and coordination of the personnel involved in the provision of competent nursing services within the Birthing Center where staff provide direct and indirect patient care. Ensures adequate scheduling of personnel on the Birthing Center unit within the staffing guidelines set forth by the Director of Birthing Center and / or Chief Nursing Officer. Communicates professionally, timely, and appropriately with all team members. As a Registered Nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinates patient education and activities of interdisciplinary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing in accordance with the established methods and procedures of Mahaska Health. Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to,

• Assists the Birthing Center Director in evaluating nursing team member performance on the unit.
• Provides nursing care to patients utilizing The Nursing Process determined by the patients’ assessed needs :
• Demonstrates the ability to provide adequate levels of competent staffing as evidenced by :

Reviews staffing on a daily basis (Monday through Friday) and coordinates with the house supervisor to provide adequate staffing for the Birthing Center unit.
