Medical Receptionist is responsible for interacting with patients and families while also handling administrative tasks for the clinical team and other ancillary staff. They use effective communication and interpersonal skills to multi-task and contribute to the efficient day-to-day administration of the healthcare clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Greet patients, families, staff and visitors to the facility.
- Answer and appropriately handle incoming phone calls, faxes and electronic messages.
- Register new patients in the EMR and assist with any required paperwork, as appropriate.
Schedule patient appointments based on provider schedule including in-person and telehealth visits.
Coordinate telehealth or offsite visits with various facilities.Confirm upcoming appointments.Handle insurance related tasks such as verifying patient eligibility, obtaining prior authorization and collecting copays / self-pay payments.Maintain front desk area in a clean and organized manner ensuring a sufficient supply of office / clerical supplies.Maintain patient waiting area in a clean and welcoming manner.In absence of a medical assistant -
Escort patient to exam rooms.Daily exam room maintenance and weekly supply inventory.Ensures that all beginning and end of day procedure / tasks are followed and completed in a timely manner.Other tasks, as needed.QUALIFICATIONS :
High school graduate or GED.Prior front desk, administrative or office experience required. Healthcare setting, preferred.eClinicalWorks experience stronly preferred.Excellent communication skills.Customer service orientated personality.Ability to multi-task.Bi-lingual - English / Creole preferred. Spanish and / or French are a plus.SCHEDULE :
