Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Special Education Teacher focusing on serving students who are visually impaired is needed for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year at a K-12 school in Zuni, NM. This position is a contract role designed to support the unique learning needs of students across all grade levels in a vibrant educational setting.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with visual impairments.
  • Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technologies to facilitate learning.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to provide comprehensive support.
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress regularly.
  • Provide virtual instruction and resources as necessary, requiring previous virtual teaching experience.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Certification in Special Education with a focus on visual impairment.
  • Experience teaching students who are blind or have low vision.
  • Strong skills in adaptive technology and accessible educational tools.
  • Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver instruction in both in-person and virtual settings.
