Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position, requiring a DC RN license and strong high-acuity experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Cardiovascular ICU of a teaching hospital
  • Patient ratio is 1 : 2 in a Level 1 Trauma and post-op environment
  • Care for patients requiring telemetry, ventilator support, and high-acuity monitoring
  • Charting is done using Cerner EMR
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week with an even split between day and night shifts over a 6-week period
  • Weekend shifts are part of the regular rotation
  • Holiday coverage is required
  • Floating required to units with equivalent or lower acuity
  • Provide specialized care to cardiovascular and post-operative critical patients
  • Parking is available directly on campus
  • Employees must complete required modules prior to start, with an average of 12 hours for completion
  • A minimum one-year gap is required for former employees wishing to return as travelers
  • Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a different rate
  • All requests for time off must be included at time of consideration; no time off allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required; pending DC license may be accepted but must be active before start
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of two years' experience with telemetry, ventilator support, and in high-acuity units
  • At least one prior travel assignment completed; first-time travelers will be screened
  • Pulmonary Artery Line experience is preferred
  • Level 1 trauma and post-op experience preferred
  • Two supervisory references required
  • Flu vaccination required
