Role Description
This is a full-time role for a project estimator position at Pipeline Utilities, Inc. at their north satellite division located in Melbourne. The project estimator will be responsible for analyzing project requirements to calculate labor, material, and time costs, prepares bids and reports and collaborates with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to provide accurate project cost forecasts.
Key Responsibilities :
Cost Estimation - determine and calculate the costs for labor, material and equipment based on civil plans.Data Analysis & Research - gather information on labor costs, material prices, production times and supplier quotes to develop accurate estimates.Bid & Report Preparation - prepare detailed price lists, bid documents, and formal reports for clients, project manager and bidding competitions.Vendor Management - identify, contact, and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and negotiate terms.Risk Assessment - Perform risk analysis to identify potential costs overruns or other issues and provide recommendation to mitigate them.Collaboration - work with engineers, contractors and clients to define project scope, conduct feasibility studies and provide cost-related consultations.Software Utilization - use construction estimating software and other data analysis tools for forecasting, budgeting and project planning.Record Keeping - create and maintain detailed cost databases and track actual project costs against estimates to ensure budgetary control.Required Skills :
Critical Thinking - essential for analyzing complex project information and making informed recommendations.Analytical Skills - ability to review and evaluate data and methods to find cost-effective options.Technical Proficiency - familiarity with construction practices and proficiency in cost estimation software.College level education - minimum AA or AS Degree.Technical proficiency - familiarity with construction practices and proficiency in cost estimation software.Organizational Skills - ability to manage multiple tasks, data, and project timelinessMath Skills - excellent mathematical ability for precise cost calculations.Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.
