Location : Columbia, SC (Hybrid Remote / WFH option available but must be within driving distance to the Columbia, SC office)
Duration : 9+ months (possible temp-to-hire)
Schedule : Monday Friday, 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM (40 hours per week, 1-hour lunch)
Position Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to join the Analysis Department within a Utility Bill Management organization.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity offering training and career growth. The position involves reviewing data, identifying billing errors, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of utility information.
This role requires strong attention to detail, basic analytical skills, and comfort working independently while following structured procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
Review system-generated errors based on data entry standards (average 3 minutes per resolution).
Investigate historical and live billing issues and obtain corrections or refunds when necessary (average 15 minutes per issue).
Identify and correct data entry errors to ensure accurate client billing.
Research and resolve problem bills within established timelines and processes.
Build and maintain vendor-specific processing templates and spreadsheets.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Complete assigned tasks following standard operating procedures and performance metrics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Training Information (Provided After Hire) :
All new hires must successfully complete two paid training programs :
Utility Bill Knowledge Training (UBK) : A 2-day foundation course covering utility industry basics and terminology.
Analysis Training : A 1-week course focusing on rates, tariffs, and utility data analysis.
Both trainings end with a final test that must be passed to remain on assignment.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
0 2 years of experience in an analytical, billing, or data-entry role.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and manage workload independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other MS Office tools.
Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Preferred (Not Required) :
Basic understanding of utility bills, rates, or tariffs.
Prior experience in accounts payable, billing, or energy-related roles.
Strong math and Excel background.
Work Environment :
Standard weekday schedule (Monday Friday).
May need to go onsite once per month for meetings or equipment pickup.
