Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night position with a NM or compact license and recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 32-bed Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
  • Night shifts (4x12 hours, 18 : 30–7 : 00) are required
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6
  • Must work 6 weekend shifts within each 6-week period
  • No call requirement
  • Floating to similar units as needed
  • Patient care includes O2 protocol management, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care, and patients on isolation precautions
  • Uses Epic for computerized documentation; Epic experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
  • Rapid response team activations may be required as part of duties
  • Brief orientation provided on the unit with required onsite training modules during orientation
  • No travel pairs or groups are accepted for this assignment
  • No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved; no time off allowed during first week of orientation

    • Requirements

  • Active NM or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
  • Two years of recent Med / Surg RN experience required
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Former permanent staff must have a minimum 1-year separation before returning as traveler
