Controller - Scope of Work
Job Summary :

To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of Property Management Accounting practices. Ultimately, you will make sure we comply with accounting regulations, maximize profits and mitigate risks.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Perform, oversee and review month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations (including but not limited to bank reconciliations and inter-company accounts), journal entries, account analysis and monthly financial statement review for various entities.
- Prepare and reviewing audit reconciliation schedules, preparing prepare financial statements and footnotes, answering auditors' other departments questions, and resoling problems.
- Assist in creating best accounting practices in line with accounting regulations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax rules and regulations.
- Perform, oversee and review month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations (including but not limited to bank reconciliations and inter-company accounts), journal entries, account analysis and monthly financial statement review for various entities).
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the General Ledger.
- Oversees the Company's accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Create and maintain financial reports in the accounting systems.
- Establish standard operating process for budgeting, financial reporting, cash management and revenue recognition, expenditures and fix assets to ensure accuracy and completeness and integrity of financial statements and other financial information.
- Maintain a filing system for all financial documents.
- Filing income tax return, franchise tax return and other tax returns, as applicable.
- Support Finance & Accounting Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation.
- Perform treasury management functions including management of online accounts, wire administration, daily cash reconciliations, cash flow projections and serving as banking relationship liaison.
- Supervise, train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial documents.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications :
5+ years' experience as a Controller or similar roleBachelor's Degree in Accounting requiredCPA PreferredWorking knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Working knowledge of SEC regulations and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and legislationAbility to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial informationComputer literacy (Microsoft Exchange, Excel, Outlook; DocuSign)Working knowledge of YardiExcellent verbal, written, and social communication skillsExcellent organization, time management, and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrentlyPrevious management experienceEssential Functions :
