Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Teacher / Child Interactions : Communicate and interact frequently, affectionately, and respectfully. Encourage and model appropriate behavior and expectations. Be attentive, flexible, and supportive of children and their families. Practice positive discipline techniques.
- Program : Collaborate with the teacher to implement a reflective curriculum, activities, and environments daily that support the child's learning. Demonstrate respect for diversity, independence, and creativity. Assist in documenting children's accomplishments, observations, and data collection related to health, behavior, growth, and development. Assist in designing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and individualized education plans. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds. Collaborate in designing classroom environments to promote interactions, social learning, and play. Demonstrate knowledge of Head Start standards and Educare model. Clarify goals of IEPs or IFSPs when applicable. Follow the reflective planning cycle : observe, reflect, document, discuss, plan, implement, and partner with families.
- Faculty / Parent Interactions : Respond to parents and visitors professionally, invite input on development and care, communicate regularly, participate in home visits, share resources, maintain confidentiality, and plan parent-teacher conferences discussing child's progress based on assessments.
- Use of Data : Share assessment data with families, create plans based on data, engage parents in ongoing communication, and review screening and assessment results with the lead teacher.
- Health / Safety / Nutrition : Supervise children adhering to safety rules, maintain a safe and organized environment, and complete necessary paperwork.
Decision-Making Authority
May take action but must inform the Director for significant injuries, parent concerns, or recording incidents. Refer other decisions to the teacher.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Maintain confidentiality, attend required meetings, demonstrate flexibility and ongoing professional growth.Establish respectful relationships, participate in team and center activities, communicate effectively, and resolve conflicts professionally.Follow safety guidelines, be able to lift up to 40 pounds, supervise children outdoors, respond to emergencies, and maintain alertness.Bilingual skills preferred. Knowledge of web browsers, Word, Excel, Outlook, and early childhood strategies.Education & Experience
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.This job posting is active and not expired.
