Job Summary

A Data Strategist's primary focus is to examine and interpret data and turn it into information which improves business decisions. The Data Strategist will gather information from various sources (CRM, BI Reporting, Power BI, SharePoint, Excel) and interpret patterns and trends; strategize, develop, and maintain a product "intelligence" library for use in partner and sales analytics. The Data Strategist will develop templates, one-off reports, governed datasets, and other data outputs as requested, and will drive automation to reduce manual effort and enable self-service analytics, with a strong emphasis on Power BI development and optimization.

Role Description

Examine and interpret data and turn it into information which can offer to improve business and inform decisions

Gather information from various sources (CRM, ERP / AX, BI Reporting, Power BI, SharePoint, Excel) and interpret patterns and trends

Design, develop, and optimize advanced Power BI reports and analytics solutions, utilizing DAX, Power Query, and (where appropriate) VBA / macros to improve efficiency and quality of reports

Provide analytics and recommendations from generated reporting for management and business stakeholders

Strategize, develop, and maintain a template "intelligence" library (datasets, measures, report templates, documentation) for use in sales / partner analytics

Train associates on best practices in using pre-established Excel and Power BI reporting templates; host office hours and create job aids

Assist in content for onboarding training and continued education on templates, datasets, and department-centric reporting

Work with leadership to develop and / or complete special report requests and ad-hoc analyses

Generate and distribute reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cadence; manage subscriptions and refresh schedules

Create and manage documentation for internal communications, including cheat sheets, data dictionaries, and other training materials

Implement and manage data governance elements

Identify and implement automation (e.g., scheduled refresh, Power Automate, BI subscriptions) to remove manual work and improve reliability

Maintain an intake process and backlog; provide frequent updates on progress, risks, issues, and dependencies

Provide hands-on user support and resolve reporting issues independently; serve as Tier-1 / Tier-2 escalation for PPSS dashboards and data questions

Manage and prioritize workflows and projects through Asana

Skill Level Requirements

Database management and reporting skills - Intermediate

Other Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Minimum of 2 years in a sales, sales support, or analytics role

Experience in a Data Analyst / Data Strategist role preferred

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Power Query, pivots, modeling)

Experience with Power BI (DAX, data modeling, dashboard development) and SharePoint as a data source / content hub

Light travel for team / leadership meetings and enablement sessions (up to 10%)

Occasional after-hours support for critical report refreshes or production releases

Preferred :

  • Microsoft Certified - Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) or equivalent

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $105,000 - $135,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
