About the Role

The Sr. Sourcing Specialist applies a thorough and analytical approach to developing and executing sourcing strategies designed to reduce total costs, enhance supplier value contributions, and secure a sustainable competitive edge in key direct sourcing categories. This role collaborates with divisional stakeholders to align and optimize sustainable sourcing strategies for the electronics category and will partner with cross-functional partners in Supplier Quality and Supplier Engineering to execute project deliverables, while ensuring product quality and cost savings.

Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Gathering market intelligence and trends for the electronics category and sub-categories
  • Identifying all suitable suppliers to develop comprehensive knowledge and supplier database
  • Guiding respective internal leads through a holistic and systematic category approach to material and supplier selection and management; identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities
  • Managing strategic supplier relationships according to the category strategy and strategic differentiators for each supplier
  • Analyzing data and developing cost modeling tools (i.e. should-cost, COGS, etc.) to manage category
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate issues and supplier-related risks
  • Working with suppliers to promote continuous value improvement for quality, service, and cost
  • Managing supplier performance and identifying Value Improvement Programs (VIP) to improve the total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Establishing an optimal balance between collaborative engagement and competitive pressure with supply base to ensure the maximum value is realized, including negotiations on supplier contracts and value improvements
  • Supporting the annual budget process for assigned suppliers and resolving systematic issues
  • Establishing early involvement to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost

Required qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct sourcing experience and supplier relationship management
  • Experience with MS Excel and other applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, MS Project etc.)
  • Ability to travel globally up to 20%
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Master's Degree or professional certification (i.e. CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Experience sourcing for electronic components for manufacturing operations
  • Experience working in medical device or similar regulated industry
  • Strong decision-making and negotiation skills, ability to influence internal and external teams
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills : process and results-oriented
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities effectively
  • Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
