Pay Rate :
No housing - Local : $26 / hr
With housing (50+ miles away from permanent) : $24 / hr
Housing stipend : $10 / hr (taxable) $18 / hr (Non taxed) or $720 (tax-free)
(Must be 50+miles from facility to taxable address to qualify for housing or housing stipend pay.
Requirements :
- Resume with a minimum of 12 months of experience as med tech
- Medtech - NC license (in good standing)
- Med tech certification
- Current - BLS / CPR
- 2- current references (supervisors)
- PPD / TB QuantiFERON (within the last 12 months)
- Chest X-rays should have a negative result + TB Questionnaire
- COVID Vaccination documentation
- COVID Declination
- Current physical (within the last 12 months
- MMR, Varicella, Hep B- Vaccination or declination
- Flu Vaccination is Required.
- Must be able to pass background / urine drug screen (Within the last 12 Months)
Medication Technician
About the Role
Star Nursing is seeking dedicated Medication Technicians to join our team supporting the Dillon Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Butner, NC. In this role, you will administer medications, maintain accurate records, and support youth health services under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective care for justice-involved youth in a secure detention environment.
Responsibilities
Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to DPS policies and the NC Nurse Practice Act.Document all medication administration in eMAR / MAR accurately and timely.Observe and report side effects, reactions, and effectiveness of medications to the supervising RN / physician.Maintain inventory control of medications, including controlled substances, with proper documentation and security.Assist with vital signs, specimen collection, and other basic clinical duties within scope.Support the daily clinic flow, including clerical and health records tasks.Coordinate medication passes with facility schedules to minimize disruption.Follow all juvenile justice facility security, safety, and confidentiality protocols.Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.Successful completion of NC DPS Medication Technician training and competency evaluation (post-hire requirement).Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within DPS timelines).Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow protocols.Professional communication skills with ability to interact respectfully with justice-involved youth and facility staff.Previous healthcare or correctional facility experience preferred (CNA, EMT, CMA a plus).Why Join Star Nursing?
