The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and requests. Operates a cash register and the duties which correspond. Package product, work with drive-up and / or carry-out. Replenishes product as needed.

Accountable and reports to : District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of GM, Perishables, and Store Operations; Service Managers. Positions that report to you : None.

Primary duties and responsibilities include : providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service; smiling and greeting customers; assisting customers; operating cash register; redeeming promotional coupons; stocking and cleaning shelves; adhering to sanitation procedures; and maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include : assisting store management; knowing code dates on perishable items; changing register tape and ribbons; assisting in other areas of store; and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and worker characteristics include : ability to carry out detailed instructions; ability to do arithmetic calculations; ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; and ability to write identifying information.

Education and experience : no education or experience requirements.

Physical requirements include : ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently; vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction; ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working conditions include : exposure to temperature extremes, possible dampness, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.

Equipment used to perform job includes : pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, fork lift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, fax.
