The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has career opportunities within the Directors Office / Office of Legal Affairs.

We are currently recruiting for two full-time Lawyer 1 positions as well as one part-time Lawyer 1 position.

This position is responsible for providing legal support to and representation for the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS).

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

• Knowledge of legal analysis principles, practices, and theories
• Knowledge of legal research methods and techniques, including use of LEXIS, Westlaw, and the internet.
• Ability to analyze difficult legal problems and synthesize a course of action.
• Meet minimum qualifications :

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position may be eligible for a statutory 2.5% an hour base pay increase July 1, 2026.

This position may be eligible for moving and relocation reimbursement. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to DPHHS policy.
