Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support K-12 students in Huntsville, AL. This part-time, on-site position offers 19 hours per week during the school year on a contract basis. The teacher will work with a mixed caseload, providing specialized instruction and resources to visually impaired students to promote their academic success and independence.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Deliver direct instruction adapting curriculum to meet students unique needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments
  • Conduct assessments and monitor progress related to vision-related educational goals
  • Provide orientation and mobility training as needed
  • municate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and needs

Desired Qualifications :

  • Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) credential or equivalent
  • Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
  • Ability to manage a mixed caseload and tailor services accordingly
  • Strong collaboration and munication skills
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional strategies for visually impaired learners
