Laboratory Technician Pay Rate and Hours :

  • Pay : $20.00-$30.00 / hr. Depending on experience
  • Hours : Monday through Friday, 6 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm

Laboratory Technician Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • The Lab Technician (LT) is responsible for analyzing all process solutions used , as well as solving problems within the different process chemistries. The position requires much attention to detail as well as a methodical approach to analytical scheduling & problem solving.
  • The Lab technician must consistently perform all tasks required in order to maintain the highest quality process outputs, as well as prevent issues from arising in the future.
  • The LT must be knowledgeable about all solutions used in all processes, including the boiler system and the waste treatment system. The LT must also be familiar with the equipment used during the processes and how it can affect the outputs, as well as being able to rule out equipment malfunction when problem-solving.
  • The ability to move from task to task quickly and in a consistent manner, continuing to learn about all the chemistry used, and time management are all necessary to be an effective Lab Technician.
  • The LT is responsible for keeping the analytical lab neat & tidy, safe, and in accordance with the companies Quality Standards, maintaining inventory levels of production supplies, as well as bulk process chemistry.
  • The Lab Technician position involves a balance of analyzing / controlling process solutions daily and preventing problems from arising in the future. The Lab Technician (LT) position is critical for the efficient and high-quality operation. The ability to work accurately and safely is key to fulfilling the requirements for this position.
  • Laboratory Technician Basic Requirements :

  • Ensure all tanks are within pH parameters & record twice daily. Adjust as necessary. Check all tanks’ temperatures weekly.
  • Visual quality check of outputs from all process lines / Investigate any issues
  • Ensure the analytical lab is kept clean, organized, and functional.
  • Always wear required safety equipment.
  • Communicate with Line Operators about any issues with process outputs. Help solve / adjust chemistry if needed.
  • Perform Hull Cell on Tanks 1307, 2511, & 1911. Adjust chemistry as required.
  • Perform Zn / Ni and E-Ni adhesion testing weekly.
  • Ensure operators change & clean filters for 1900, 2500, Tank 907, Tank 1909, Tank 1905, and the specified tanks on the 3200 line. Document on Concentrations Worksheet.
  • Record all process analytical data onto the company server.
  • Complete “Chemical Order Sheet” based on established reorder levels for all lab chemicals.
  • Verify the completion of the calibration of both Waste Treatment pH probes on Tanks 1 & 3 in 1661, Batch Treatment pH / ORP probes, and sump probes in 1629 & 1603.
  • Perform Etch rate on 3200 & 900 line using LP-3200. Record on Weekly Analysis Sheet.
  • Prepare necessary salt spray, coating weight, & Taber test panels for testing. Package, label, and prepare panels for shipment. Refer to the Salt Spray Testing Spreadsheet for specific requirements.
  • Collect / label / prepare to ship a sample of Zn / Ni and E-Ni studs for alloy testing. (Include PO# of lot).
  • Collect, label, and prepare solution samples for external analysis.
  • Maintain / update all process line books. Including both SDSs & TDSs.
  • Maintain / update all process line books, including both SDSs and TDSs.
  • Assist in required quarterly dumps of process tanks.
