Overview
GEOTEK, a market leader in high-performance, engineered pultruded composite structural solutions, is looking for high-potential, highly motivated engineers to join our engineering team. As a Test Engineer, you will support testing activities for both new and existing products in all areas of our business. Working in partnership with other engineers, you will design fixturing including preparation of 3D CAD models and drawings in SolidWorks, instrumentation of test articles and set-up data acquisition, test article and fixture set-up, use engineering analysis to interpret data and results, prepare test plans / reports and other engineering documentation, and other engineering duties as assigned. Ideal candidates will be hands-on, problem solvers, highly motivated and driven, detail oriented, self-starters, and capable of multi-tasking and managing and prioritizing work. Previous internship experience is considered highly desirable. Key responsibilities
- Prepare test plans and reports
- Set-up tests, including fixtures, instrumentation, and test articles; physically move / manipulate test articles and equipment
- Design fixtures and conduct structural analysis using SolidWorks CAD and engineering calculations
- Review and analyze data and test results (including statistical analysis) to form conclusions
- Prepare and write test procedures
- Support test lab management and equipment maintenance by supporting instrumentation calibration and other duties as assigned
- Prepare 3D models, parts, and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Prepare engineering drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis
- Support the new product development process by preparing quote packages, procuring prototypes, supporting production, and other duties as assigned
- Become familiar with the electrical power distribution and transmission industry in North America and worldwide, with focus on overhead wire structural products
- Provide technical consultation to Operations and Manufacturing, as well as our external customer on our existing and new products and product performance
- Assess business needs and make recommendations for new products, upgrades, and / or hardware to optimize efficiency
Qualifications
Four year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Composites, Civil, or Materials preferred); Min. GPA : 3.5 / 4.0Strong desire for structures, materials, or composites engineeringStrong desire for hands-on product development and testingInternship or professional experience with a focus on product testing / development in composites is highly desiredMust be a problem solver, hands-on, self-motivated, self-starting, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and prioritize accordinglyFamiliarity with common materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes, such as steels, aluminum, sheet metal, plastics, machining, welding, painting, metal forming, casting, heat treating, etcSolidWorks experience with 3D modeling of parts, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5; Formal GD&T training desirableExcellent communication skills (written and oral) is essential, including ability to develop and deliver messaging efficiently; ability to work with different levels of staff from line workers to managers throughout the organization is highly desirableMust work well independently as well as with others in a team environmentMust be able to stand, lift, use manual tools, and power toolsExperience with MS OfficeDetail oriented and organized to ensure accuracy and qualityMust adhere to all corporate policies and proceduresMust remain flexible as priorities changePhysical Work Conditions
Time should be split between test labs and the office or meeting rooms ranging anywhere from 25% to 75% in engineering labs. While working in the labs there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals. Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $64,579 - $88,796. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions.
