Position Summary :

The Automation Controls Engineer III is a senior technical resource responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing control and data acquisition systems across manufacturing, packaging, and support equipment. This includes SCADA systems, PLCs, and HMIs. The role involves leading troubleshooting efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and implementing advanced automation technologies aligned with business goals and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead maintenance and optimization of SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors
  • Oversee external contractors and ensure compliance with safety and GMP standards
  • Investigate equipment-related quality deviations and implement corrective actions
  • Draft and manage change requests and engineering documentation
  • Provide programming and integration support for automation platforms
  • Recommend and implement cost-effective automation upgrades
  • Lead complex projects with minimal oversight
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians
  • Support validation and compliance activities
  • Evaluate emerging automation technologies
  • Maintain compliance with SOPs and training requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Education & Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or related engineering field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation integration
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI systems (e.g., Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Simatic)
  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

    No direct supervisory responsibilities, but includes mentoring and technical guidance.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety instructions, SOPs, technical procedures, and regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective presentation abilities
  • Mathematical Skills :

  • Proficiency in arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages
  • Strong understanding of algebra and geometry
  • Reasoning Ability :

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret technical instructions and manage abstract / concrete variables
  • Computer Skills :

  • Proficiency in manufacturing and internet software
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Other Skills & Abilities :

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Technical writing and documentation proficiency
  • Experience with building management systems and cleanroom facilities
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, FDA, JP, EU)
  • Ability to read control schematics and troubleshoot systems
  • Emergency and corrective maintenance capabilities
