Security Officer - Retail Mall Patrol

As a Security Officer - Retail Mall Patrol in Wheaton, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail / Malls, and more.

As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas at a vibrant retail or mall location. Your presence and routine patrols help to deter security-related incidents while offering outstanding customer service to shoppers, tenants, and visitors. This role provides the opportunity to engage with the public, uphold property guidelines, and respond to various situations, all while embodying our values of agility, reliability, and teamwork. Pay Rate : $18.00 / Hour

Job Schedule : Day Time

Mon 03 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM

Wed 03 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM

Fri 03 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM

Sat 03 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM

Sun 03 : 00 PM - 11 : 00 PM

What You'll Do :

  • Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
  • Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
  • Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
  • Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
  • Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities :

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and / or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner within the retail and mall environment.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location and its perimeter to observe for suspicious activities and help to deter unwanted behaviors.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized access and / or criminal activities.
  • Assist visitors, tenants, and staff with directions and general inquiries, maintaining a welcoming presence.
  • Report and document security-related incidents, hazards, and maintenance issues according to Allied Universal policies.

  • Interest in transitioning into full-time roles when available

    • Minimum Requirements :

  • Possess at least one year of security-related experience.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • A security-related guard card or license is preferred.
  • Experience with access control and / or badge management is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and / or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
