Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) II responsible for the Firearms Information Technology Systems Modernization Unit, the SSM I is a working supervisor and provides support to the Bureau of Firearms (BOF) business lead on the project, responsible for engaging and performing project tasks to support the overall project.

The SSM I plans, manages, coordinates, leads, and oversees staff performing analytical and quality assurance duties related to the implementation of the FITSM project. The SSM I will perform the more complex and / or sensitive analysis required for the project, including reviewing technical specification documents and legislation.

The incumbent must have a strong working knowledge of Bureau policies and programs. The SSM I must have strong analytical and project management skills and knowledge of the program's needs and functions and firearms related laws, regulations, and policies.

The SSM I must make sound, logical, documented, fact-based recommendations to the SSM II as decisions impact high-profile, statewide programs. The SSM I must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well under pressure, and perform multiple tasks with accuracy, precision, and neatness.
