Job Description : Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer – Direct Hire (Niwot, CO)

Are you ready to take your electrical engineering expertise to the next level? Our client is seeking a Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer to join their team in Niwot, CO (with an anticipated move from Boulder to Niwot in 2025). This is a direct hire / perm opportunity with relocation assistance available for the right candidate.

In this role, you'll support and enhance the product lifecycle of highly technical particle counting instrumentation. You'll collaborate with a passionate, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and business partners, using your design skills to troubleshoot complex systems, improve functionality, and extend product life cycles.

What You'll Do

  • Lead sustaining engineering efforts, driving product updates and design enhancements.
  • Work hands-on with embedded processor system electronics and analog circuit design.
  • Troubleshoot complex electronic boards using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis and generate design updates, documentation, and test reports.
  • Partner across mechanical, firmware, production, and service teams to solve problems and deliver improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Manage engineering change orders and direct contracted design projects.

What You'll Bring

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (MS).
  • 10+ years of hands-on design experience with microprocessor circuitry, analog circuits, and signal integrity.
  • Strong background in schematic capture, embedded design, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ADC / DAC signal conditioning, SPICE simulation, and test equipment such as oscilloscopes and function generators.
  • Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary projects and mentor others.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Extras

  • 32 / 64-bit ARM processor design experience.
  • FPGA interfacing and Siemens xDx Designer experience.
  • Low noise analog design and photodetector expertise.
  • Familiarity with DDR memory, SPI, I2C, USB, and DC / DC converter design.
  • Basic programming skills in C / C++.
  • The Details : Location : Niwot, CO (initially Boulder until 2025). This is primarily an in-office role (75–100%), with occasional flexibility to work remotely.
