Accounting Clerk
The Accounting Clerk will support the financial and administrative operations of a diverse property management portfolio, including both multifamily communities and scattered-site properties. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely, accurate processing of accounting transactions, reconciliations, and reports. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, coding, and approval prior to payment.
- Prepare and post tenant payments, owner contributions, and other receipts.
- Monitor A / P and A / R aging reports, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Assist with issuing owner distributions and communicating payment status.
- Reconcile operating, security deposit, and escrow bank accounts monthly.
- Research and resolve discrepancies between system records and bank statements.
- Support property-level reconciliations for income, expenses, and deposits.
- Record rent collections, tenant charges, concessions, and move-out adjustments.
- Assist with preparing monthly owner statements and financial summaries.
- Maintain organized digital records for invoices, deposits, and supporting documents.
- Support compliance with state / local requirements related to security deposits and trust accounts.
- Maintain accurate records in the property management system (AppFolio experience preferred).
- Assist with annual budget preparation and audit requests as needed.
- Generate routine accounting and portfolio performance reports for internal review.
- Provide general accounting support to the Leadership Team.
Qualifications
13 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (property management preferred).Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and reconciliation processes.Experience with property management / accounting software (AppFolio).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong attention to detail.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy.Preferred Skills
