Job Summary
Want to be part of the most innovative veterinary team in the country? We are looking for a Large Animal Clinic Support Technician to work alongside our world leading faculty clinicians and technicians, helping them teach the next generation of veterinarians while also serving the animals and pet owners of our community.
Under supervision of the Large Animal Clinic Manager, provide support and assistance to the Animal Health Technicians, Veterinarians and Veterinary students in the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Large Animal Clinic. Clean and disinfect facilities; stalls, rooms, surfaces, computers, barns, and equipment to maintain a state of preparedness and cleanliness per IDC standards. Ensure adequate supplies; observe LA Clinic patients; collect and transport bio hazardous and sharps waste. Collect and submit patient and environmental samples for Infectious Disease surveillance. Provide support for the LA Clinic Critical Care (ICU, NICU & Isolation) units, and other large animal clinic areas as needed.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Work week includes weekends & holidays. Work occasional overtime and various hours on short notice. May be required to wear protective clothing for extended periods of time including : gown, coveralls, gloves, masks, face shields, goggles, sleeves and head covers, shoe covers, & cap. Requires working with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gaseous anesthetics, zoonotic and infectious diseases, unpleasant odors and distraught clients. Regular exposure to dead animals & bodily tissue. Employee is personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines / instructions.
